| Video Discription | A 30-year history of inter-Korean cultural exchanges 남북한 예술단 교류, 30여년의 역사 The South Korean art troupe's performance in Pyongyang was covered at length by many foreign media outlets. Going back in history, the first inter-Korean exchange took place in the year 1985. Ahead of the first-ever family reunions of those separated by the Korean War, Pyongyang proposed an exchange of cultural performances with Seoul to coincide with this event. The exchanges also evolved in characteristics with the passing of time. Starting off with traditional Korean music and classical music in the 1980s and 1990s, idol groups and pop singers began taking on a larger role in the performances starting from the late 1990s. Following the last concert in Pyongyang by legendary singer Cho Yong-pil in 2005, no South Korean artist has visited North Korea in over 10 years. The hiatus was broken after North Korea announced its intention to participate in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, which was followed by a resumption in cross-border cultural exchanges. This week, we look back at the history of inter-Korean cultural exchanges to hold a wide array of discussions on this subject. 외신의 뜨거운 관심을 받은 남한 예술단의 평양 공연! 이렇게 남북한 예술단이 교류하기 시작한 건 1985년의 일이다. 당시 이산가족 상봉을 계기로 남한 정부는 평양에, 북한 정부는 서울에 각각 예술단을 파견했다. 시대의 흐름에 따라 예술단 공연의 내용도 바뀌어갔다. 80-90년대엔 주로 국악이나 클래식 음악 위주의 공연이 이뤄졌지만, 90년대 후반부터는 아이돌 가수가 공연에 참가하는 등, 대중음악의 비중이 높아지기 시작했다. 2005년 남측의 유명 가수가 평양에서 단독 콘서트를 연 이후, 10여 년 동안 남한 가수가 북한을 방문하는 일은 없었다. 그러다 북한이 2018평창동계올림픽에 참가할 의사를 밝히면서 남북한 예술단의 공연도 재개됐는데... 이번 주 에선 남북한 예술단의 교류를 주제로 다양한 이야기를 나눠본다.
