| Video Discription | After the success of Boney M.'s 1981 Christmas Album, producer Frank Farian intended to record a second Christmas album in the summer of 1984. Six songs were recorded with new member Reggie Tsiboe (who replaced Bobby Farrell in 1982), Liz Mitchell and twin sisters Amy & Elaine Goff. Before the album could be completed Farian heard Kalimba De Luna and decided to rush-release that as a Boney M. single in August. It finally gave the group their first hit-single in nearly three years. Farian instead focussed on a follow-up single. A cover of Paul Simon's Mother And Child Reunion was recorded but when the idea came up for Bobby Farrell to return to the group, Happy Song was chosen instead. The second Christmas album was presented to Hansa. The new Christmas recordings were paired with a selection of previously released songs with a "festive" feel to them. Ultimately Hansa decided to go release the compilation album Kalimba De Luna - 16 Happy Songs, feeling that the concept of the two recent hit singles was a safer bet. Mother And Child Reunion was remixed and overdubbed and released as benefit single for Ethiopia by Frank Farian Corporation in January 1985. Christmas With Boney M. ended up being only released in South-Africa in 1984. The new Christmas recordings were eventually released in the rest of the world two years later when Farian released The 20 Greatest Christmas Songs, combining them with songs from the 1981 LP. I have assembled the Christmas With Boney M. album with an imaginary cover here. Note that the German test pressing included Exodus (Noah's Ark 2001) instead of Children Of Paradise! As a bonus track I have included the remixed version of the Christmas Medley which revealed the 4th installment Sweet Bells which was left off the 1981 mix. There are two different versions, one with Liz singing all verses in English of Silent Night, and one with the Goff sisters singing first verse in German, repeated by Liz singing in German. 00:00 A1.
