| Video Discription | Before feathers get too ruffled... yes, the Il-2 was originally powered by the Mikulin. The one's flying today, however, are flying with CCW Allison 1710's from P-38's because there are no working Mikulin engines, and the 1710 is pretty much a perfect fit for the Il-2. This video was put together to showcase the different sounds of the wonderful Allison 1710 engine as installed in three different aircraft. It's really amazing how much the turbochargers on the Lightning dampen the sound of the engine. [H7a0hHooV74] |
