From Dalhousie’s khulli khulli valleys and badey-badey mountains to London ke cramped night clubs, neon lights and co-living spaces, film chaah rahi hai aap atmosphere ko zyada mehsoos karein, bajaaye kahaani dhoondhne ke. Aadhe-pake pyaar ki universality ko establish karne ke liye both the actors Alaya F and Karan Mehta are in double roles, in chaaro ki linein almost cross bhi hoti hain beech-beech mein, par iss aage ki generation ke paas distractions itni hain, life mein thehraav ki scope kaafi kam hai. No character manages to grasp the eventuality of their actions, attentions spans are just that short. We’re meant to appreciate the rough hand they’ve been dealt, but also look down upon them for being too much in a hurry to grow up, bypassing so many small character-building risks, in favor of major life-altering mistakes. There are no ways about it, Almost Pyaar with Dj Mohabbat is a rather bizarre movie. The straightforwardness of what the narrative is about doesn’t become apparent until a long way into the film, even up until the interval point you might find yourself searching for something to grasp.
