But before we know how he goes to become a Saptarishi, let us find what kind of a person was Ashwatthama. Ashwatthama, also called Drauni, is the son of Guru Drona and Kripi. He is also the grandson the sage Bharadwaja. He was given the name Ashwatthama meaning ‘the horse-voiced’, as he cried like a horse when he was born.
