You also will need to get a PhD if you want to do work in astrophysics or astronomy. There really aren't jobs in these fields for those with just bachelor's degrees. Although the field is very competitive, if you have a true interest for the subject, most people will tell you to pursue it. Even if you don't land a job that you want, astrophysicists and astronomers can find work in other fields such as finance, engineering, software development, teaching, and more.
