| Video Discription | Yesterday, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission began executing their decision of disconnecting unauthorized handsets from cellular connectivity. After the expiration of the deadline for mobile phone registration with the NEIR, National Equipment Identity Register on September 30th, the programme for shutting down the connectivity was launched by BTRC. IMEI or the International Mobile Equipment Identity is a unique 15-digit serial number for identification of the handsets that all the phones must come with so that it can remain linked with the network. The central database for the IMEI is NEIR. The handsets that had proper documentation while purchase are automatically included in the database. From July 1, the NEIR was launched as a trial project for three months and just yesterday it has been approved officially.
