There’s a reason Saturday is super at every Barrett-Jackson auction. From the moment gates opened on Day 8 of Barrett-Jackson’s 2023 Scottsdale Auction, tens of thousands of fans were treated to one of the greatest automotive lifestyle events in the world — and there was no shortage of supercharged thrills and amazing automobiles!
An unparalleled docket of sports cars, Resto-Mods, celebrity-owned muscle cars and supercars crossed the world-famous block on Saturday. Lot 1390, a 2020 @ford GT Carbon Series, was the first vehicle to reach — and surpass — the million-dollar mark, selling for $1,320,000.
Sales continued to reach for the stars, with additional showstoppers joining the million-dollar-plus club: Lot 1405.1, a 1989 @Ferrari F40 sold for $2,750,000; Lot 1405, a 2005 @Porsche Carrera GT for $1,595,000; and a 2019 FORD GT sold for $1,320,000.
The 1966 Shelby Group II Mustang that was built for Ken Miles (Lot 1396) sold for $770,000, as did a Jeff Hayes-built 1967 @Chevrolet Corvette custom convertible (Lot 1367) and a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 (Lot 1353). Other top sales included Lot 1382, a 2012 @lexus LFA, which sold for $748,000; Lot 1391, a 2021 Ferrari SF90 ($742,500); Lot 1407, a 2019 @Lamborghini Aventador SVJ ($671,000); Lot 1393, a 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo ($605,000); Lot 1400, a 1970 Plymouth HEMI Superbird ($605,000); and Lot 1399, a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 ($605,000).
To mark the five-year anniversary of the Driven Hearts campaign, Nancy Brown, CEO of the @American_Heart Association (AHA) joined Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson and President Steve Davis on the podium following the sale of the GMC Hummer to accept a donation from Barrett-Jackson Charities. Created by Barrett-Jackson’s Chief Philanthropy Officer Carolyn Jackson, the Driven Hearts campaign has raised millions of dollars and incredible awareness for the American Heart Association.
A highly anticipated moment on Saturday was the announcement of the Barrett-Jackson Cup winners. Nearly 50 incredible custom vehicles were hand-selected for the competition. Hot-rod builder Bobby Alloway and automobile designer and builder Troy Trepanier selected the Top 5 finalists and the Ultimate Best of Show winner. Taking the coveted and prestigious Ultimate Best in Show Award — and a $20,000 prize — was a 1969 Pontiac Firebird built by Troy Gudgel at BBT Fabrications and owned by Brad Sather. A 1964 Buick Riviera built by Cruzer’s Customs, LLC., received the People’s Choice Award, which was chosen by thousands of Barrett-Jackson’s fans who voted online at Cup.Barrett-Jackson.com.
When the last hammer of the day fell on Super Saturday, dozens of sales records were shattered and over 300 amazing vehicles went across the block. Auction action and excitement like this can only be found at Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions!
