| Video Discription | Artist Jennifer Mack-Watkins, guest curator David Rios Ferreira, and poet fayemi shakur discuss Mack-Watkins’s exhibit "Children of the Sun," on view at BMAC through June 13, 2021. Inspired in part by The Brownies’ Book, a groundbreaking magazine for Black children co-edited by W.E.B. Du Bois in 1920-21, and by the life and legacy of Daisy Turner (1883-1988), a storyteller, poet, and activist from southern Vermont, "Children of the Sun" celebrates the beauty, importance, and complexity of positive representation of African American children.
