Between the years AD 900 and 1150, Chaco Canyon - in what is now northwestern New Mexico - was a major center of ancestral Puebloan culture. A thriving culture which included an understanding of complex architecture, community life, social organization, astronomy, and commerce. The half-moon shaped Pueblo Bonito "beautiful village" is one of the most impressive of all the pueblos in this scenic and spectacular high-desert kingdom.
