| Video Discription | During the Cold War, the Central Intelligence Agency sponsored anti-Communist trade unions around the world, using them to further the American agenda. These included the French "Worker's Force" union, with other CIA assets in country including Corsican gangs based in Marseille. Known as the Unione Corse, they were part of a network of Heroin traffickers that formed the “French Connection” syndicate, which pumped their product into a range of countries including the United States. During a nationwide strike during the late 1940s, the Unione Corse helped break up picket lines manned by dockworkers, whose militancy likely disrupted Marseilles's growing narcotics trade.
