He is a popular science communicator focusing on the enormous progress within AI during the latest decades, but also about the common misconceptions of it. In this talk, Morten evaluates if AI is actually in the process of exceeding human intelligence, as many people fear. Morten Goodwin is a Norwegian computer scientist and professor at the University of Agder. After attaining his master’s degree within information- and communication technology from the same school he went further and got a PhD at the University of Aalborg within artificial intelligence. Goodwin, however, is not only an academic, or a self-described “nerd” as he likes to put it. He is also the deputy director for the Centre for Artificial Intelligence research where they seek to push the research frontier in pursuit of superintelligence. Goodwin is also a popular science communicator focusing on the enormous progress within AI during the latest decades, but also about the common misconceptions of it.
