Quiet Professionals’ President & CEO Andy Wilson spoke on the unique opportunities for building Tampa as a defense hub. Joining Andy on stage were WWC Global’s Lauren Weiner and MacDill AFB’s Chief of Innovation, Lt. Col. Taylor Johnston, with moderator Valerie Ellis Lavin of Luminary Global. Attendees at the panel included US Rep Kathy Castor and Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. Tampa is positioned as an innovative defense tech hub. MacDill AFB hosts two combatant commands, USSOCOM and USCENTCOM. Tampa hosts over 50 software and IT companies. Over 25% of Florida’s tech jobs are located in Tampa. Defense spending in the Tampa area exceeds $20 billion dollars in total regional impact, including over $9 billion dollars in total defense spending. Synapse Florida is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization forming a resilient ecosystem around Florida innovators, entrepreneurs, investors, businesses, and government. 2022 marks the return of Synapse Summit.
