Later, he also got interested in the santoor and then learned from the renowned santoor player Padma Shri Pt. Bhajan Sopori ji of Sufiyana Gharana. He follows the patterns of the Sufiyana Gharana of Kashmir - the only Gharana of santoor, in which the gayaki and tantrakari ang are both given preference while playing, as also the clearness of the raga.
