| Video Discription | IHHP artists Djolpa McKenzie, Nellie Harris, Michael O'Connell, Dion Brownfield were so proud to visit Purnululu Aboriginal Independent Community School, December 2015, to create this deadly Gija music video! It was an intensive week long creative process of writing and recording the song, then filming the video clip! We were guided by strong Gija elders who wanted to showcase and explore the themes of culture, country and education! Special thanks to Aunty Shirley Drill for allowing us to film over Kawarre, where Purnululu School originally began, and to Aunty Phyllis Thomas for sharing and giving us the ancient Kawarre traditional song for the finale. It was the highlight of the week when the whole community danced the Kawarre Joonba and Traditional Wangka and celebrated strong culture! Thanks also to Brother Gabriel Nodea for leading the Wangka. Staff and students of Purnululu School, together with families from Wurreranginy Community and Warmun worked enthusiastically throughout the week to support each other in writing, recording, and filming this video clip which showcases the community spirit and commitment of the Gija people to their culture, country and education. The week was made even more special by world renowned Melbourne street artist Matt Last aka Adnate, who gifted time and paint to create a masterpiece portrait inspired by little Amelia Clifton Pinday and Gija country! This piece features in the clip! Big shout out to Ben Bolton helicopter pilot for assisting with the filming putting in 19 hours flying time over two days so we could capture the magic of Purnululu from the eyes of Warranany (eagle)!
