| Video Discription | It's not that often we can see Boeing AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter in Combat on the "big screen". To think of it, I can't recall any movie at all TBH. So, you can imagine as an military enthusiast I was rather pleasantly surprised to see this scene in the movie. Was it realistic? Nope, I'm pretty sure the Apache would always stay at distance and took them out without them even knowing what hit them, but hey, it wouldn't look this cool - in your face! Another noteworthy unique vehicle never to be featured in a movie (to my knowledge) was the sexy Cougar (MRAP - mine resistant ambush protected vehicle). Not just one, a whole convoy of those beauties! In the movie, they absolutely peppered those things (in ambush) with 5+ RPG each and on top of that went through a mine or two! That is kinda the premise of the movie - a random UEA patrol in Yemen getting ambushed by ISIS militants in 2018 (based on real events). Needless to say, it had heavy "Black Hawk Down" vibes, although not even close in quality or quantity of the combat, but in a similar scenario whereas after the ambush, even the escaped heavily shot-up vehicles with some injured on board did come back to rescue the trapped vehicles - originally one, but it didn't go well with their initial rescue. And of course, once they all did escape a wing of UEA F-16 levelled the whole ambush location for a good measure! What's not to like? Especially when the movie was really well shot to the point of shocking me how well it was done (considering I never heard of it) and it turned out that Pierre Morel was the director! The dude who previously made: Peppermint (2018), The Gunman (2015), From Paris with Love (2010), Taken (2008), District B13 (2004) - all quality action movies. So that kinda explained it. I really don't understand how I could never heard of it previously. I stumbled upon this movie randomly and I'm glad I did! One of the best war movies of the recent years. PiB approved! |
