In this lesson we provide a good overview of what the endocrine system is in review and explain about its function. We also cover the endocrine system anatomy and physiology from the glands to their locations to their purpose. We start off talking about the function of the endocrine system and contrast endocrine glands with exocrine glands. We then move on to explain how the endocrine system and the nervous system are working together throughout the body to achieve a whole host of different goals. From there we take a look at hormones and what they are and how they work and how they are used by the endocrine system to achieve effects at target cells. Next we move on to talk about the feedback mechanism that is used to help to regulate the release of these hormone. Finally we finish out the lesson with a look at the anatomy and physiology of all of the endocrine glands in the body and talk about their location, function, and how most of them work together within this complex endocrine system.
