| Video Discription | As mentioned in a previous video, external resorption is a destructive process that is very rare, and typically occurs after some sort of trauma to a tooth. While it isn’t fully understood, it appears that it is an autoimmune form of response. In the vast majority of cases, teeth experiencing this will be lost. In this video, I present an experimental treatment to try to keep the affected tooth/teeth. My idea hasn’t been published, to my knowledge, and I created it back in 2019. It involves the removal of as much of the external resorption affected tooth structure as possible, and placement of silver diamine fluoride followed by dental amalgam (or some form of glass ionomer material in esthetic zones). The patient is and should always informed of the risks and likelihood that the tooth may still be lost.
