This is the new LG G7 ThinQ, It's got a notch, improved sound quality, super bright screen and even an AI camera to ensure you capture the best images possible in various scenarios.
Just as expected of any flagship devices in 2018, the LG G7 ThinQ has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which you can expand using a micro SD card.
For design, it's slim and feels balanced in hand when it comes to weight. On the sides you get total of four buttons, three on one side and a dedicated Google Assitant button which can be double tapped, tapped once or press and hold to perform various tasks.
Three areas where the G7 ThinQ really shines are in the display, sound, and camera. For the 6.1-inch QHD+ display, you get 1000 nit of super brightness when fully cranked up, dishing out 564 PPI which LG pointed doesn't consume excess power either.
The elephant in the room, the notch is present, and like it or not, I think is here to stay and it's just a matter of how manufacturers utilise it. LG have gone for the Customisable option so you can change the colour and shape of the notch. The colour changing aspect I welcome as it's an indication as to what's possible in the future with the so-called notches.
The shape-changing aspect, however, not so much for me. Overall, it has a fantastic display that's bright and visible in bright sunlight and even with the notch, there's still 6.1inch of the screen to play with, with no home button at the bottom and Over 80% screen to body ratio.
On to sound, there's a new Boombox speaker feature which actually makes a lot of difference. Using the device's chassis, it acts as a subwoofer, creating extra bass and volume when placed on a surface, almost like when you place your phone in a glass to increase sound.
Elsewhere, there's Dts: x 3D sound, 7.1 channel surround sound through the earphone and 32-bit HiFi quad DAC like the V30, however, it doesn’t work when boomspeaker is on
Finally AI camera and security features. You can unlock the G7 using your fingerprint, face and voice; the voice got me excited as again, the possibilities are endless. Perhaps in the future, you can say G7, so it unlocks the phone, then pass on a command, e.g. play my morning playlist on Spotify.
The G7 ThinQ's AI camera can detect 19 best modes suitable for your photos or scenarios, from food, to person, to flowers and more. It can even detect when a wide angle is needed in order to switch between the two lenses on the back. There's also Portrait mode which also allows you to adjust the bokeh effect after the fact
For the tech specifications enthusiasts, the front-facing camera is 8MP, and on the back, you get two 16MP shooters one at F/1.6 aperture and the other at F/1.9. For durability, it looks like it would scratch easily but that will need to be put to test and it's IP68 water and dust resistant. Oh, you also get wireless charging.
The G7 ThinQ will come in Moroccan blue, Aurora black, raspberry rose, and platinum grey. Pricing will be added to description once I find out.
