The last time we worked with keshi was in 2020 for our DSCVR At Home series, which brought live performances to the masses during lockdown. Back then, supporting his hushed ballad “More,” we hinted that an album was in the works. Next week it finally arrives. The versatile singer/rapper/producer asserts that ‘Gabriel’ is about his “life at the moment; it’s very honest and candid.” That latter word certainly describes “GET IT,” a boldly bumpin’ and lyrically brash track that announces keshi is yet again pushing the boundaries of his craft. As he goes through his checklist - “Got my money (Check) / Lady (Check) / Rollie (Check) / Mary (Check)” - it’s easy to see this is an artist whose confidence is sky high. He brought that authority to our studio, too, reeling in the swag a bit and adding a pinch of earnestness. Meanwhile, on “ANGOSTURA,” he dove even deeper into his R&B bag.
