| Video Discription | This is the Gjakova segment of DIY Travel featuring Kosovo and the host Charles Huang will visit some of the cities most iconic and must visit attractions on foot. First being the Serbian Orthodox Monastery of the Assumption of Virgin Mary, but was closed when arrived. Follow by the landmarks in the Old Bazaar, the heart of the economy in the city for trade and buying and selling of merchandise. The Bazaar was burnt and destroyed and then it was reconstructed after suffering damage during the 1999 Kosovo War. We'll showcase the history of the Clock Tower, built in the year 1597 and also located in the historic centre nearby. Finally the Hadum Mosque, built in the last decade of the 16th century and was financed by Hadum Sylejman Efendia. In 1999, the evening when NATO’s intervention against Yugoslavia began, Serb police and the paramilitary began to set fire around the mosque complex. The fire caused a lot of damage to the complex. In 2003 Cultural Heritage without Borders, asked by KCHP, took over the restoration which was completed in 2005.
