Often called jock itch because people who are athletes are called jocks. They feel that severe itching because of the continuous sweating process which is happening. The cause of this is a common fungal infection called a dermatophyte infection and whenever there is a increased humidity, increased friction which can be seen in the inner thigh area and under the brazier of a woman or in the underarm area this fungus is able to make an entry into the upper layer of the skin and therefore cause the infection which can appear to be like a red patch or a brown or dark brown scaly patch with significant itching.
