For the design and measurements, I took inspiration from the "Long Tom" style sluice boxes used back in the gold rush by the 49ers, and combined that with principles of more modern sluices as well as my own experience from working the diggings. The result is an effective and old-school sluice that recovers gold efficiently and looks awesome (if you're into gold mining and gold rush history).
