| Video Discription | "Home Sweet Home" is a song from the 1800's that became vastly popular during the American (US) Civil War. It was sung by both the Union and Confederate Army soldiers, as well as in homes throughout America. Although the words were first penned in 1823, and the tune was written in London a decade earlier, when it was first published in America (1862) it sold 100,000+ copies of sheet music virtually overnight. Union and Confederate bands began playing the song in the evenings after the nightly "cease fires" were declared. It became the melody of choice, and historians tell that bands from both sides would draw near the lines in order to play it together. "Mid pleasures and palaces, though I may roam; Be it ever so humble, there is no place like home". Refrain: "Home, Home, Sweet Sweet Home! There's no place like Home!"
