| Video Discription | After having a second thought about marrying St. John Rivers, Jane returns to Thornfield to check on Mr. Rochester. She is dismayed to learn that Mr. Rochester's mentally unstable wife has finally succeeded in burning down Thornfield with Mr. Rochester being badly injured during it. While walking among the ruins she meets Mrs. Fairfax , whom explains what has happened to Thornfield and Mr. Rochester. Now I like this version, but have an issue with this scene. I think it is poorly written. For one thing why is Mrs. Fairfax just hanging out at Thornfield's ruins ? Does she go there everyday , just hoping Jane will stop by ? OR is Mrs. Fairfax broke and squatting at Thornfield , if so she is in the last place to help Jane as she says she would have. It's just a bit too much ah, "suspension of disbelief" in this scene. I would have her meet Mrs. Fairfax upon alighting from a coach in the village AFTER visiting Thornfield.. I would have written it as Mrs. Fairfax sees Jane disembark in the village, out of a shop window and hurries out to her. She then explains to Jane about what happened at Thornfield and Mr. Rochester. She can apologize and explain her intentions to Jane then too. Just wonder what anyone else thinks about this scene. [WqoRRAS5nio] |
