| Video Discription | If you're looking to lease a car in 2021, here are 3 things you NEED to consider first. I learned these things throughout the process of leasing my Audi A4 over the past 2 years and I thought I'd put this video together as a guide for anyone who is new to leasing. These tips are aimed at people living in the UK but are applicable to other countries as well. If you have any leasing tips/tricks, or if there is a specific video you want me to make, please leave a comment. --- TIMESTAMPS AND TIPS: • Intro: 0:00 • What is leasing?: 0:21 • What you DO and DON'T pay during a lease: 1:14 • Number 1 - TYRES: 2:03 Depending on a number of factors (length of contract, miles travelled, driving style, etc), you should be able to go through your entire lease without changing the tyres on your car. However, if you are unlucky and irreparably damage your tyres, then that can result in an unexpected cost that is more than you might think. Due to extremely bad luck, I had to repair two tyres in the space of two months at a price of £180 each. Also, be sure to check your finance agreement, as it may state that you need to match the original factory tyres. For some higher end cars (eg with run flats), this could mean a bill of £200/300 a tyre. TIP: Use a website like https://blackcircles.com to check the price of tyres for your car before you lease it. This will allow you to see what kind of prices to expect. • Number 2 - FUEL: 3:44 This one is quite obvious as you need to fuel your car to drive it. However, if you are leasing a car that is more fuel thirsty than your previous car, just remember that this can *really* start to add up. This is especially relevant for anyone making a jump in engine or car size. Remember, it's not just Porsches and Ferraris that can consume a lot of fuel. TIP: Check the fuel consumption of the car you're looking to lease and get a rough idea of how much you'll spend on fuel every month. You don't want to be stuck in a multi-year contract with a car you cannot afford to put petrol in! • Number 3 - SERVICING: 4:52 This is a cost that people overlook, especially when taking lease deals on more expensive brands. Just because your lease deal is cheap, doesn't mean your car will be cheap to service. As always, be sure to check with your finance provider if servicing/maintenance is included. If not, this can usually be added in for an optional monthly fee. Be sure to compare the price versus your local dealership to ensure you get value for money. I was able to spread the cost of servicing at my local Audi dealership across two years with 0% interest finance. Many dealers in the UK offer this service. TIP: Check your finance agreement as it may state that you need to have your car serviced at an approved dealership.
