Social Democratic teachers front has written to the Vice chancellor of Delhi university to roll back this order. ------------ The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has slammed the Kerala Forest department for failing to protect and maintain wildlife habitats, a situation which, the CAG noted, has led to increase in human-wildlife conflicts. CAG Report: Kerala Government's Failures in Wildlife Protection and Forest Management Exposed CAG Report; Wildlife Attacks in the State: 29,798 Cases Reported, 445 Lives Lost from 2017 to 2021 CAG report: Wayanad alone recorded 6,161 cases, highlighting its prominence in these incidents. CAG report: incidents from Wayanad accounted for 12.48% of all cases reported statewide. Government suffered setback in human-wildlife conflict management, forest land degradation. Elephants left unprotected, endangered species threatened, forest ecosystem preservation neglected. Wildlife census poorly executed, exacerbating wildlife exodus. Forest area reduced drastically, especially in Wayanad. Forest cover diminished by 947.49 square kilometres since 1950, agriculture and construction cited for encroachment. ----------------------- After the Lok Sabha contest, Maharashtra is bracing for another round of the ruling NDA vs INDIA bloc, where both sides will try to outmanoeuvre the other in the elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Council (MLC) to be held on Friday. For MLC polls, 12 candidates are in the fray for 11 seats The contest is seen as a semi-final as the results will show whether the ruling Mahayuti is intact, or some MLAs are slipping ahead of the assembly polls due in October-November. The NDA comprises the BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's NCP, while the INDIA bloc has Congress, Sharad Pawar's NCP, and Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena. In Maharashtra, the NDA alliance is called Mahayuti while the INDIA bloc is called Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
