| Video Discription | Mapleton Farm is a beautiful 6200 square foot family home set in 1.3 acres, surrounded by 400 acres of the beautiful Berkshire countryside in the Basildon Park estate which is owned by The National Trust. The home benefits from an outdoor heated pool and bar, a tennis court, a private and gated driveway and a separate self contained two bedroom cottage. The current owners favourite part of the home is the incredible party barn. Accommodation Summary Mapleton Farm has all of the features you would want from a farmhouse, with brick and flint exterior, exposed beams, feature fireplaces and a large kitchen with Aga yet has been beautifully and tastefully renovated for 2023 standards. Lower Basildon is a very idyllic location situated between Goring and Panbourne. Ground Floor As you enter the home you are greeted with an entrance with exposed oak beams, immediately you are greeted with a reception room which is currently used as an office and has a washroom to the left. This could also become bedroom number 5. To the left of the entrance hall you will find a large kitchen with a central island, a breakfast area and a snug with incredible views of the grounds. There is a separate door which leads to the party barn which is absolutely phenomenal and is a huge space, perfect for entertaining. It is currently set up with a large dining area a lounge area with feature fire place and a separate utility room. The barn also has a second floor which is currently used as a gym, pool table room, and storage but could perfectly accommodate guest when required. The cottage sits next to the tennis court and again offers wonderful views of the grounds. Outside The grounds of Mapleton Farm are truly like no other. It is very rare to find such an impressive home with unspoilt views of the rolling Berkshire countryside. Mainly laid to lawn the landscaped grounds have wonderful features, such as a an outdoor heated pool, a full size tennis court, pond, private driveway, decking area and car ports. Location Lower Basildon is a small Thames-side village which is spread out along the main road, the A329, and the church, St. Bartholomew's, is At the end of a narrow lane beside Church Farm is St. Bartholomew's Church. Although mainly 15th century the nave and inner south doorway are early 13th century, and the tower dates from the 18th century. St. Bartholomew's is known as the place of the baptism and burial of Jethrow Tull who invented the seed drill and wrote a pioneering work on farming methods. The church is now in the care of The Churches Conservation Trust. Opposite the church is the Racing and River Boat Museum housed in a converted timber framed tythe barn which probably dates from the 17th century. The main railway line from London to the West Country and Wales crosses the River Thames at Lower Basildon and during its construction a luxurious Roman villa was discovered but has now been completely lost under the railway Between the two villages is Basildon Park, the National Trust property which was built between 1776 and 1783 for Sir Francis Sykes and designed by John Carr in the Palladian style. The entrance to Basildon Park is in Lower Basildon. Apparently the well-known stationery, Basildon Bond, took its name from Basildon Park when directors of the manufacturers stayed there as guests in 1911. Nearby is a wildlife park and garden know as Beale Park.
