| Video Discription | Melee games for the last 40 minutes of a three hour sparring event, run by the AHF, but open to all HEMA practitioners. Here there are fencers from five different clubs. This isn't intended to represent anything in particular, it is simply a fun group combat where people can use whatever weapons they like, including spears and shields. The rules are simple, if you are hit you are out, including doubles. Hits to the back are to touch only for safety. This melee included a wide variety of fencers from very new fighters to very experienced ones. Some with melee experience, some with little to none. Contact levels were moderated to ensure safety in what are often chaotic situations. We constantly switched out fighters between the teams, and eventually had champions volunteer to fight before the main battle. It ends with a last man standing round. [GlZKiGyETyE] |
