Some of them have to be weak trainers to easy you into the pokemon league gauntlet, they can't all be Pokemon champion trainers. Even though he may be one of the worst Elite Four members, it's actually impressive trainers like Aaron made it far enough to be in the conversation with a monotype bug team.
