The AMAZING 2023 Audi Q5! Refreshed Luxury Midsized SUV
The new 2023 Audi Q5 is just like the Apple iPhone of the SUV world, as it's world-renowned for its precise build quality, good performance, as well as its refined appearance. Many other luxury SUVs offer the same tech features and flashier styling, but the Audi Q5 is satisfaction guaranteed, at least for drivers who don't mind bland handling. And with the new 2023 Audi Q5, will be a game-changer, so what are some of its new features? Keep on watching this video to find out.
Audi the automaker has shifted around a few features in the Q5 lineup this year, they started off by making adaptive cruise control standard on all models. The Premium Plus trims will now come with a Bang and Olufsen stereo system, as well as plug-in hybrid "55" models get OLED taillights. The Chronos Gray has now been replaced by Quantum Gray on the Q5's exterior color palette,
as well.
The new Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback are carryover models, and no significant changes are expected for the new model year. But, across the Q5 trim lineup, Audi announced changes to the standard equipment packages. Adaptive cruise control is now standard, and the Premium Plus trim level now features an updated sound system.
The Q5 55 gets new OLED taillights with design tweaks for the Prestige trim level's Sport plus package. In addition, new color options are available. Chronos gray takes the place of Quantum gray offered on Q5 45, Q5 55, and SQ5 models.
The luxury SUV competitors of the Audi Q5 include the Porsche Macan, Porsche Cayenne, Aston Martin DBX, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC60, Maserati Levanti, Land Rover Range Rover Velar, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Genesis GV70, and Lexus RX.
The all new 2023 Audi Q5 40 features a standard 201-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, with a seven-speed automatic transmission, and Quattro all-wheel drive. And now stepping up to the 45 model boosts horsepower to 261. The turbo four will also provide plenty of punch to scoot the Q5 45 around town or even blast down a highway on-ramp, and it is smooth, and quiet.
The new Q5 45 delivered a brisk 5.5-second run to 60 mph at its test track. The plug-in-hybrid variant adds an electric motor which increases output to 362 horsepower as well as 369 lb-ft of torque, which helped it snap off in a quick 4.5-second run to 60 mph in experts hands, beating the performance-oriented SQ5 Sportback by 0.3 seconds.
The luxury compact crossover's suspension is well-damped and imparts a stable feeling no matter the road or driving condition. The ride is smooth and controlled, with or without the optional adaptive suspension, even over pockmarked asphalt.
Moreover, the steering is accurate and lightly weighted but provides no feedback from the front wheels as of yet. In its Dynamic drive mode, the steering feels sturdier but it is still artificial. If you pitch the Audi Q5 down a twisty two-lane, and it will be able to handle it reasonably well, a Porsche Macan will show you a much better time.
Drivers seeking more power or efficiency have choices in the Q5 range. One is the SQ5, which packs a turbocharged 3.0-litre V-6 making 349 horsepower and 369 lb feet connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Launching to 60 mph takes 4.7 seconds, according to its testing. Last year, the SQ5 was rated at 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, and the 2023 model should be close to that.
Unexpectedly, the SQ5 is not the most powerful Q5 model. That distinction goes to the Q5 55 TFSI E Quattro, a plug-in hybrid. Like the entry-level Q5, it has a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
However, between its engine and transmission is an electric motor powered by a 17.9-kWh battery. Total output measures 362 hp and 369 lb-ft. That makes it the quickest Q5 experts have tested; 0-60 comes in 4.5 seconds. Equally appealing is its estimated 23 miles of all-electric driving range and 61 mpg-e combined rating.
Moreover, the EPA estimates that Q5 40 will earn 23 mpg in the city and earn 29 mpg on the highway, while the 45 is rated for 23 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Also the plug-in-hybrid model has a combined estimate of 27 mpg and an electric-only range of 23 miles.
On the 75-mph fuel economy test route, the Q5 45 matched its EPA rating of 28 mpg, and the plug-in hybrid model delivered only 26 mpg in the same test and it managed to go on for only 17 of its 23 estimated electric-only miles.
