| Video Discription | The marketing concept behind Unheardof’s Nike Air Max Tailwind IV retro rollout was a no-brainer for us. The shoe made its debut in 1999 so, instantly, our minds drifted to thoughts of 90’s culture and the hysteria surrounding the infamous Y2K scare. The story we tell is a nightmare for any shoe enthusiast in any day and age. In a bygone era of the not-so-distant past, your average 90’s consumer was using the now prehistoric dial-up internet to learn the process of making a purchase online. Terrified that their banking information might be stolen, they threw caution to the wind and used this method to buy a pair of Tailwinds on their computer. After an excruciating wait watching the seconds tick down towards release, the clock finally strikes midnight and the wrath of Y2K ensues. Our character’s night and subsequent decades are ruined by the computer crash. Fast forward 20 years and our character is exploring the downtown area, still haunted by missing out on his Tailwinds. Wandering aimlessly down the street, he glances into a shoe store, where he sees two familiar young women wearing the very same Tailwinds he’s pined for for two decades. His mind begins to race. As his confusion gives way to excitement, he bursts through the door and asks the women how they could possibly have those shoes. The women exchange perplexed looks, and tell him they are available right there at the store. After 20 years of resenting Y2K, our character’s dream is finally realized! He asks for his size 12, only to be met with the news that only 11.5 and 13 are available. DAMN YOU Y2K!! [fHiFEaKMFDs] |
