| Video Discription | How to set a string in the planting hole, under a plant's rootball. This is for growing under cover, because you tie the top of the string to a support vertically above. In this case it's a wire in the polytunnel. I'm planting a four week old cucumber. It's a cordon cucumber, not a ridge type. You can use this method also for cordon tomatoes, melons, and aubergines. It is plant roots which hold the string in place. It's not tied to anything at the bottom. The string needs to be plastic polypropylene, not jute.
