| Video Discription | Health is not only the absence of disease but also the presence of a sound mind in a sound body is health. So what is Panchakarma? This is the 5 karmas done in Ayurveda. In Ayurveda, there are 2 kinds of treatments, one is samshaman and one is the samshodhan. Samshodhan is the tablets what we give. samshodhan is purifying the body removing all the toxins away from the body is called as the samshodhan chikitsa. In samshodhan, Panchakarma plays an important role. There are 5 methods by which the toxins can be removed from the body and the 5 methods are the vamana, virechana, basti, nasya, prathrokshana. Vaman is basically for kapha oriented diseases like sinusitis, psoriatic cases, asthmatic tendency, vaman karma is very useful. Virechana is forceful judiciously useful purgation.so basically this is for the pitha type of doshas. Basthi is the enemas. These enemas are like the oil enemas or the kashayam enemas, definitely all the medicated kashayam. Then comes the raktamokshana. raktamokshana is the bloodletting. Nasya is for anything above the shoulders, you take some nasal drops in the form of ghee, oil, or kashyam and put it into the nostrils. So the question is does a single person needs all the 5 karmas? When you are doing for a therapeutic purpose, you don’t need all the 5 karmas. When you are doing it for purifitory purpose, then you can do all the 5 karmas depending on which doshas are more and depending on the doshas. Coming to the benefits of Panchakarma, it acts not only at the body level, but also at the mind level. Each and every cells of your body gets purified, detoxified. So the glow after the Panchakarma is far better than the facials that you do. So Panchakarma gives glow to your body. It increases your basal metabolic rate. Panchakarma helps in removing the extra fats from the body. Not only that but when the vata, pitta, kapha are in the normal balanced state, you are not prone to any disease. Maintaining the health in a healthy individual and the person which has a disease, eradicating the disease. This should be the aim of any science. So Ayurveda helps in achieving this aim and Panchakarma helps in achieving this aim. So you increase your BMI, your face glows, then you don’t have the basic diseases like cough, cold, fever, throughout and your immunity increases.
