| Video Discription | In this video I will show you how I like to make my Ghana meat pie. This is one my favorite Ghanaian snacks. It takes quite some time to make but its absolutely delicious! Download my FREE E-book 👉http://bit.ly/freeebookiak Filling: 1/2 cup Grated carrot 2-3 Chopped onions 1/2 cup Garden peas 340g Corned beef 2 A magi cubes 2 Teaspoons Garlic powder 2 Teaspoons 5 Spice powder 2 Teaspoons Ground pepper 2 1/2 2 Teaspoons Nutmeg 1/2 Teaspoon dried basil Instructions Filling: 1. Warm the corned beef over a medium fire and add the onions. Mix the onions with the beef, and wait till the corned beef gets a bit softer 2. Add the shredded carrots 3. Then add the dried spices 4. Mix it all together 5. Lastly add the peas 6. Remove it from the fire and let it cool Instructions Crust: 500g All-purpose Flour 250g Butter Water Milk 1 Teaspoon Baking soda 1 Teaspoon Salt 1 Teaspoon Baking powder 1 Teaspoon Nutmeg powder 1. Combine the milk with water baking soda and salt. Stir and put it aside. 2. Put the flour in a bowl and add the nutmeg and baking powder 3. Use a whisk to incorporate the nutmeg and baking powder into the flour 4. Then add the butter and mix until you get a bread crumb like texture 5. Then make a whole in the middle and add the liquid bit by bit. If you accidentally add too much liquid you can fix it by adding more flour. But to avoid it add the liquid little by little. 6. Kneed until you get dough balls, kneed it for 2-3 minutes but not too long other wise you’ll over activate the gluten and it will get very chewy and elastic. On the other hand if you do not kneed enough it will became very flaky. So kneed until the dough is no longer sticky. 7. Roll the dough out, add some flour when needed 8. I used the pie mold to cu out circles, if you don't have one you can use a bowl, or a cup or any round object will do. 9. Put the dough on the mold 10 Apply egg white at the edges of the dough, applying the egg white will help keeping them closed 10. Put the filling in the middle of the pie. Close the pie mold and remove the excess dough. You can save up the excess dough, kneed it together and roll it out to make a new pie. Or If you don't have a mold apply the egg white to the edges of your dough. Put the stuffing in the middle. Then bring the two sides together and close it by pressing the edges with a fork. 11. Place the pies on a lined baking tray, use a fork to make holes in the pie. This is done so that the steam can escape. 12. Then apply the egg wash, this will give it its golden brown color. The egg wash is basically an egg yolk. I diluted it with a teaspoon of water but that's optional. You can also use coffee milk instead of an egg yolk. 13.
