Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers have been studying the dermatologic effects of COVID-19 on kids and adults. "By the time we grow into adulthood, our immune systems have had the opportunity to see many viral, bacterial and miscellaneous infections, and grow immunity such that if you get exposed again, you hopefully will not have a true infection," says Dr. Dawn Davis, chair of the Division of Clinical Dermatology at Mayo Clinic. "The same is not the case for children. They may not have seen the infection in the past, and their immune system may be learning.
