The 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, hosted by Adam Devine, were a roller coaster of tearjerking speeches and larger-than-life performances. But more than an awards show, the night proved to be above all a celebration of diversity. Beauty and the Beast took home two of the biggest honors — a testament, said Emma Watson, to the public’s love of the film’s fearless female protagonist. Daniel Kaluuya won a Golden Popcorn for his performance in the harrowing Get Out, and the awards for show of the year and best actor in a show went to Netflix’s Stranger Things and the series’ Millie Bobbie Brown, respectively.

One of the most tender moments of the evening was when the cast of the Fast & Furious franchise accepted the coveted Generation Award, thanking fans for supporting their motley crew for well over a decade.

And without further ado, here are all the big winners of the night!

These giant paillettes, whose dictionary definition includes the term “spangles,” are the largest sequins ever seen on a red carpet. They don’t really look like sequins, but apparently they are.

Let’s rate the sequins on the MTV red carpet according to an arbitrary system of sequin-ness that I just invented. Why? Because why not.

Millie Bobby Brown paired cowboy boots with a mod, long-sleeved white shift dress encrusted in tiny white sequins, topped off with an ACLU ribbon and slicked-back hair.

Sequins rating: 9

Pink, green, and gold ombré sparkles

Allison Williams’s cocktail dress is adorned with sequins that transition, ombré-like, from green to gold to pink. Could have had more sequins.

Camila Cabello, J Balvin, and Pitbull didn’t slow down for one sec at the MTV Movie & TV Awards Sunday night (May 7) in Los Angeles. Their explosive “Hey Ma” performance had something for everyone: fiery lights, fierce choreography, and flirty side-glances between Cabello and Balvin.

The set opened Fast & Furious-style, since “Hey Ma” is part of the The Fate of the Furious soundtrack. Then a red-hot Camila blessed the crowd with her presence by dramatically floating down from the ceiling. Her high notes didn’t disappoint, as per usual.

Buckle up — safety first! — for the full fiery performance here.

The young breakout stars of Moonlight, Jharrel Jerome and Ashton Sanders, beat out ALL the smooches to take home the Best Kiss award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards Sunday night (May 7) in Los Angeles. While they didn’t re-create their cinematic kiss — as has been typical during past shows — they gave fans something much more meaningful: a powerful speech about what their Golden Popcorn really means to them.

“On a real note, I think it is safe to say that it is OK for us young performers — especially us minority performers — to step out of the box,” Jerome said. “I think it is OK to step out of the box and do whatever it takes to tell the story and do whatever it takes to make a change. And so this award is for that — for us artists who are out there who need to step out of the box to do whatever it takes to get people to wake up.”

Being the host of the MTV Movie & TV Awards is a tough job — especially when you have to travel to the Upside Down.

After Adam Devine mentioned Get Out’s Sunken Place, star Allison Williams brought out her trusty teacup and sent Devine through the stage floor. Landing in the Sunken Place — which looks suspiciously similar to the Upside Down from Stranger Things — Devine runs into Barb (Jillian Bell), who informs him the Upside Down is one level below the Sunken Place. She then confesses she’s in a relationship with the Demogorgon, who has four penises. Um, what?

Trey Songz, Eleven (Aubrey Plaza), Anders Holm, and Hannibal Buress encounter Devine and help him return back to the Movie & TV Awards — by crawling “through the butt hole of that creepy tree.” Check out the hilarious clip below.
