    From the manufacturer

    Focus with Precision

The EOS 80D camera features an impressive 45-point all cross-type AF system1 that provides high-speed, highly precise AF in virtually any kind of light. To help ensure photographers don't miss their shot, an Intelligent Viewfinder with approximately 100% coverage provides a clear view and comprehensive image data. Improvements like a powerful 24.2 Megapixel (APS-C) CMOS sensor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF for Live View shooting enhance performance across the board. Complementing the EOS 80D's advanced operation are built-in wireless connectivity and Full HD 60p movies that can be saved as MP4s for easy sharing.

    45-point AF System 1

The EOS 80D camera has a wide-area, 45-point, all cross-type AF system1. Excellent in dim light, it has improved low luminance performance to EV -3 and is compatible with most EF lenses (lenses with maximum apertures of f/8 or higher, and some lenses with extenders attached may operate at a maximum of 27 points). It also features 4 AF area selection modes, including user-selectable Single-point AF, Zone AF, Large Zone AF and 45-point AF auto selection.

    Intelligent Viewfinder

The EOS 80D camera’s Intelligent Viewfinder provides a bright and comprehensive view. Approximately 100% coverage means there’s virtually no guesswork when composing, and with all settings available at a glance, the Intelligent Viewfinder helps photographers keep their eye on their subject to capture the image at the right instant. The Intelligent Viewfinder displays a variety of information including AF points, AF mode and a grid display, all of which can be hidden for manual focus or subject observation.

    24.2 MP (APS-C) CMOS Sensor

The EOS 80D camera features a 24.2 Megapixel (APS-C) CMOS sensor that captures high-resolution images and features refined individual pixels that enable high ISO speeds of 16000 for still photographs (expandable to 25600) and 12800 for movies (expandable to 16000, 25600). Equipped with high resolution and high sensitivity, the sensor works with the camera’s DIGIC 6 Image Processor to enable Dual Pixel CMOS AF during Live View operation, and while capturing both Full HD 60p and Full HD HDR movies.

    Dual Pixel CMOS AF

Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF delivers fast, smooth and accurate AF and tracking during Live View and movie shooting. Equipped with phase-difference detection autofocus, it provides virtually no loss in image quality with extended coverage across approximately 80% of the image plane.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF excels with video shooting, helping to ensure focus is achieved naturally and precisely, even when switching between subjects. Combined with the predictive power of Movie Servo AF, subjects in motion are smoothly tracked.

    Built-in Wi-Fi2 Connectivity

Built-in Wi-Fi2 connectivity means exposure settings can be operated wirelessly using a compatible smartphone2 with the free Canon Camera Connect app2. Shoot remotely, review images and easily transfer and save images directly from the camera to a smartphone. DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) compatibility and Local Area Network (LAN) connectivity means easy sharing and transfer. Upload to CANON iMAGE GATEWAY4 for quick sharing on social networking sites, and print photos on a wireless PictBridge-certified printer without needing a PC.

    Built-in NFC3 Connectivity

Built-in NFC (Near Field Communication) helps provide a virtually seamless connection to numerous compatible Android smartphones3, and the Canon Connect Station CS100. To transfer your photos and videos, simply tap the EOS 80D camera to the Connect Station CS100. With the Connect Station CS100, you can store, view and organize all of your photos and videos from just one device.

    Full HD 60p

It’s easy to capture and share high-definition, sharp and beautifully exposed movies. Dual Pixel CMOS AF provides fast focus, and Movie Servo AF tracking helps maintain focus in the action. The Vari-angle Touchscreen monitor makes composing easy, while Creative Filters and a Video Snapshot feature encourage experimentation. Both MOV and MP4 formats are supported for fast and easy sharing. Manual volume recording control, digital zooming and a headphone terminal add to the impressive collection of high-end moviemaking features.

    Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD

A Vari-angle Touchscreen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor II helps capture videos and stills at a variety of angles, with up to 270° of vertical rotation and up to 175° of horizontal rotation. It delivers intuitive touch panel operation, easy setting access and Touch AF. Displaying fine detail (at approximately 1.04 million dots), this screen can be ideal for composing and reviewing images. Smudge-resistant coating helps minimize fingerprints and maintain a clear image display, even in bright light.

I have been using this Camera for more than a year. Its good but....
    3 Stars
I have been using this Camera for more than a year. Its good but....
I bought this camera in September 2016 and been using it for more than a year. Following are some useful points for those who are really interested in photography:Pros:1. Excellent battery life2. Super fast focusing3. Weather-sealed body gives you confidence to shoot during rains and wet conditions.4. Great choice of lenses(any Canon camera would have this advantage)5. Excellent from-camera JPEG images(which most Nikon users feel is a disadvantage for them and often prefer post-processing)6. Good shutter speed7. Amazing live-view for shooting and focusing( This is where it does better than Nikon cameras. Video mode has Dual-pixel CMOS technology for focusing. So gives you cinematic effect)8. Touch-screen gives you better control during focusing if you are using Live-view(for both stills and videos) and also helps you to navigate through menus and images faster and review the images in a faster way9. Kit lens has good zoom range of 18-135 mm (which most of the other same priced also provide)10. Inclusion of time-lapse feature is boon for many enthusiasts and travel photographers11. Full articulated screen has helped me many times during hand-held shots of macros, landscapes and portraits.Cons:1. Poor low-light performance compared to other same priced DSLRs2. Kit lens zoom range is good but unlike other Canon cameras you don't get kit lens with zoom upto 250mm. This is a disadvantage for wildlife/bird photographers.3. Dynamic range is poor. Lots of details lost when shooting images with bright highlights and dark shadows.Although camera has in-build HDR mode, the quality and sharpness of the image is very poor. My Nikon 5500 performs much better. It has good Dxo Mark rating for HDR4. Image quality detirorates rapidly after ISO2500. This is where Nikon D5500 performs much better.5. RAW Image quality is poor compared to my Nikon D5500 and lesser details1. For first time DSLR buyers:-Well I feel this is too expensive buy for first-time buyers. Most of the first time buyers often end up giving their interest in photography and their cameras soon end up in OLX or Quickr with hardly being used. So I suggest buying less expensive DSLRs or buying Nikon cameras if you dont need touch-screen and twivel-screen or don't shoot live-view.2. For those who are upgrading:There are two categories here. Upgrading since they already Canon Lens and those upgrading from beginner to enthusiasts without any preference of brand. For those upgrading from Canon and if you already have good canon lenses, this is the right option. For those who don't mind the brand, I would suggest Nikon D7200 but again if you are doing lot of video and using screen for shooting and want flexibility to review images like the way you do with your smartphones, this is good option

5.0 out of 5 stars I really loved that camera, but love this one so much more!
Reviewed in the United States on 14 February 2017
I cried unashamedly when I unwrapped the Christmas wrapping to reveal what I'd saved up for for seven months, and my wife had bought for me from Amazon.com. This is an upgrade from a Rebel XSI. I really loved that camera, but it had been getting long in the tooth as I'd been reading about the new ones coming out the last three years. When this one hit the market, that was it! I told her, "Yup, that's the one I want!" Well, love is giving. She gave me this camera, and I've been ecstatic since. We live on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. Yesterday, there were 35-40 knot winds from the west, as is the norm. I took the 80D and got some photos of the lighthouse that two people have already said are "award winners", with the waves smashing up the side of the breakwall, the sun making a ghostly shadow of the lighthouse itself onto the spray. I don't know about the "award winners" part, but the photos wouldn't have been possible with the XSI; it couldn't take photos at 7fps, as the 80D did yesterday. Even with my shaking hands in that high wind, it did an amazing job with its amazingly fast focus capability. There's so much info right there for you at the press of a button on the screen before you start, and it's so easy to adjust anything you need to in just seconds. It's a dream to work with for me, and at 67, I'm kinda thankful for that. If you're looking for a great camera that's better than a beginner's model, but won't run you the $3500.00 a 5D Mark IV will, THIS is the guy you're looking for. Man, this thing feels so good in your hand, it's silly. The Rebel was a touch on the small side; the 80D is perfect. It's really nice to have that info window on the top, too.
