Our patient-family advocacy group has been working for the past 5 years on ways to improve clinical performance by sharing their personal care experiences and providing feedback. “We’re not there for show, but to move the needle,” says Nestelynn Gay, our patient resource coordinator. “We want to find out what worked and what didn’t work, and then we enact change. Nothing gets done without considering the patient.” Compared to a clinical setting where a patient listens to a medical provider, our group members speak to medical providers who appreciate feedback and even welcome criticism. The work done by our 40 different patient and family advisor councils has helped improve patient safety, establish community links and enhance health outcomes for our patients!

Our Detroit hospital's environmental services team was recently recognized for completing more than 33,000 cycles with its germ-busting LightStrike™ UV robots — the most in Michigan! Our 14 Xenex LightStrike robots use powerful ultraviolet (UV) light technology to effectively combat viruses and bacteria that can lurk on high-touch surfaces. “We are incredibly proud that Henry Ford Hospital’s LightStrike program led the state for the number of rooms zapped in 2023," said our environmental services director Jennifer Ritz. "Our entire EVS team does a fantastic job, and we greatly appreciate the measures they take to prevent the spread of pathogens.”
