Hello folks, and welcome to my Patreon page. My name is Chris, and I run a YouTube channel called Cynical Reviews, in which I review things for the sake of comedy. This usually means terrible movies both new and old, infamous and obscure, but I'll cover anything if I think I can make a good video on it. For instance, so far I've also taken a look at an awful joke book, a cringeworthy sex ed film, and EA's abysmal press conference at E3 2018. I also have a rant-style series called "What's Wrong With", in which I act like a miserable bugger as I address topics of varying seriousness. I do sometimes offer "legitimate" criticisms of the media or topic I'm discussing, and occasionally I make videos attempting to be a "proper" critic, but the primary focus of the channel is, has been and always will be, comedy. If any of that sounds good, feel free to check out some of my content, and I hope you stick around. SO WHY PATREON? Even though my channel is monetised, advertising revenue from YouTube is never that great unless you're pulling in huge numbers of views, and the threat of demonetisation hangs over every creator's head. Most of my videos take a lot of time and effort to make, and to be unable to receive something back after weeks of work is incredibly frustrating. I don't want to be forced to dumb down my content and pump out bland, generic "child-friendly" videos just to appease an algorithm. Nor do I want to force ads into my videos or be paid to review anything by corporate sponsors if I can help it. Patreon can potentially provide me with a steady source of income that will allow me to produce and continually improve the content that I want to make. But more importantly, it also allows me to foster a better connection with you - the fans - the people are helping me make my channel a success, and to show my appreciation through rewards and credits.
