| Video Discription | One of the most evil Nazis of the Second World War was Reinhard Heydrich, who was known as 'The Butcher Of Prague.' He was also known as 'The Beast,' for his brutal treatment of Czech citizens after the Germans took control of Czechoslovakia. He instigated a reign of terror over the lands and acted as pretty much the dictator of the region, ordering imprisonments and executions. He executed thousands of people during his time as the Protector of Bohemia and Moravia, and he was greatly feared. However he soon became a target. An assassination was planned by the Czech Resistance working alongside British SOE agents, and Josef Gabcik and Jan Kubis were chosen to train to take out Heydrich. They were parachuted into Prague and then began to work on a plan to kill him. It was decided that on his morning commute, assassins would strike and shoot Heydrich as his car approached a sharp bend in the road. This is what happened, however disaster struck when Gabcik's gun jammed, however Kubis threw a bomb that seriously injured Heydrich. They initially feared that the assassination attempt had failed, and it looked like Heydrich would recover, however a week later he slipped into a coma and died. The reprisals for Reinhard Heydrich's death were incredibly savage, with thousands of Czechs imprisoned and hundreds killed.
