| Video Discription | You wanted to know how long you can let your baby sleep in the swing, and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends against letting babies sleep in a swing. There are some danger associated with it, and some things parents should think about. And if your baby does fall asleep in a swing, move them to a flat, firm surface as soon as possible like their crib or a bassinet. The same applies to a car seat carrier because the same danger exists. The things you want to think about are them flopping forward in a car seat or in a swing, it's also possible for them to fall out of a swing and so if there's a significant angle in the seat of the swing your baby is in make sure they are buckled in so they won't fall out. A lot of swings these days have mobile toys above the baby’s head and these are designed for their entertainment, and they can be good, but they can also be hazards. So make sure that they are not hanging too low and that they are well attached to the mobile above the baby. Also be sure to read the manufacturer's instructions so you know the weight limit on the swing and you're not putting your baby in it once they've exceeded that weight limit. And one other thing to consider is that if a baby spends a lot of time in a swing, or in a car seat, or in a bouncer they are subject to getting a flat head so look for opportunities to do tummy time with your baby, and to hold them so they are not on their head for most of the day.
