| Video Discription | SBG Ireland HQ is moving into a new, bigger and better gym. Check out the layout, insides and outsides of the new level of SBG Ireland in Dublin. Dear fellow SBG’ers It is with great pride and excitement that I present to you our new home, SBG Ireland HQ 2019. I am looking forward to spending many weeks, months and years training here with you helping you realise your fitness and martial arts goals. It has been a long time coming. I opened my first ‘full time’ MMA gym in 2000 (The Shed) and since then have slowly but surely worked towards having a state-of-the-art facility such as the one I present to you now. My gym was originally called Full Circle Martial Arts Academy but changed to, and remains today, Straight Blast Gym Ireland in 2002. Over a period of 19 years I’ve moved location 8 times, this will be my 9th and final time. Some of those moves were welcomed upgrades, sometimes they were forced moves when a landlord wanted his unit back. This move began October 2017 when after being told my current lease would not be renewed (which would end Jan 2019), I went looking for a new home. I didn’t realise then it would take almost two years to find, agree upon, plan and refurbish our new gym. However, one thing this journey has taught me is that nothing worthwhile having ever comes easy. Some of the highlights I’m looking forward to sharing with you include changing rooms that have been fitted with Porcelanosa tiles and fittings to give the feel of a five-star spa. I want to take a moment and thank you for your saint like patience with our current changing room situations. Since moving in I’ve just had problem after problem with drainage and dampness. Well….no more! The changing rooms have probably been the biggest source on investment to make your experience at HQ as comfortable as possible including a spacious 12-person sauna for you to relax in after a tough work out. The boxing ring is being upgraded to a full size, elevated competition ring. Supplied and fitted by the iconic Everlast company. This is one of the first times that Everlast has partnered up with a MMA gym. The BJJ/Grappling area is being increased by nearly 50%, so to has the Striking area. A major addition to the curriculum is the addition of Víkingaþrek. Classes will be held in our brand new conditioning room fully kitted with kettlebells, barbells, slamballs, bags and various other tools for us to push you to your limits. These group bootcamp style classes are completely free to all members on our Combat Athlete and Ultimate Athlete programs. We also have a new private training room for 1-2-1 classes with our BJJ/Kickboxing and MMA coaches. Another exciting partnership will be the addition of the McGregor FAST program to our growing gym area. This includes the addition of high-tech cardio equipment such as the Watt bike and treadmills. Please take note of the following dates as we wind down at Concorde and get ready to move to our new home Sunday Aug 4th – Final day at Concorde Monday to Sunday 5th-11th – gym closed. For those unable to stay off the mats, SBG Tallaght on the Belgard road will be available to you during this time. NOTE: for those attending the SBG Euro Training Camp Aug 9th-11th you will get a sneak peak at the new facility. Places are still available and can be booked at front desk.
