Shree kali temple is located in Khokana, Lalitpur. The temple is dedicated to goddess Kali. Summer is the best time to visit there because of the lush greenery around it. Khokana is a former Village Development Committee (VDC) that has merged with the neighboring VDCs of Bungamati, Chhampi, Dukuchhap, Sainbu, and other 38 VDCs to form the Metropolitan City of Lalitpur in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal's Lalitpur District. Khokana had a population of 4258 people living in 699 individual households according to the 1991 Nepal census. According to the 2011 Nepal census, Khokana has a population of 4927 people living in 1056 households. Khokana is a traditional and modest Newari hamlet located around 8 kilometers south of Kathmandu (on the outskirts of Patan). Khokana has long been recognized for producing high-quality mustard oil. It was also the first town in Nepal to get electricity installed during the reign of Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher in 1911 AD. Khokana has been proposed for Unesco World Legacy status as a vernacular community with a mustard-oil seed industrial heritage.
The Taudaha Lake is said to be a remnant pool of the massive lake that previously existed where Kathmandu currently stands. According to tradition, Manjushree, a Buddhist mythological character, chopped the hill in the valley's south, allowing the lake's water to drain and so generating land that was properly settled by humans. According to folklore, the "cut" in the hill is the Chobar Gorge, a tiny tunnel through which the Bagmati River departs the Kathmandu Valley. After the original lake's water evaporated, a few tiny lakes and ponds formed beyond the hills. One of the ponds is said to be Taudaha. Several bird species have been identified, many of which are inhabitants, a few of which are summer migrants, and the others are winter migrants. Some of the permanent species are the Black kite, Black drongo, Cattle egret, Oriental magpie robin, Common myna, Jungle crow, Rose-ringed parakeet, White-throated kingfisher, and Red-vented bulbul. Summer visits include the barn swallow and the Indian cuckoo. Winter migrants include the Great cormorant, ruddy shelduck, Northern shoveler, Mallard duck, Gadwall, Eurasian coot, Northern pintail and common teal.
