| Video Discription | [Note: There has been some discussion on if this weakens the plastic of the console, mine still seems fine, but it's possible that it will become more brittle the more times this is done, attempt at your own risk) Taking a Super famicom (Japanese SNES) that I bought from ebay, And restoring it. I'm doing a FULL teardown for: Cleaning the plastic, removing yellowing, Fixing Power cable, and more! Process used: 1. Test the system to make sure everything works. 2. If you have issues with the power cord, check for corrosion, If there is some, clean it off. 3. check controller cords, clean if needed 4. Disassemble controllers, remove board, and all buttons. 5. clean controller plastic, (with soap+water) [Clean buttons if needed] 6. Soak front of Controllers in hydrogen peroxide 7. disassemble SuperFamicom 8. Remove front grey panel, and remove all buttons. 9. Clean All top parts with soap+ water 10. soak all top parts in peroxide. Note: the larger the container you use, the more peroxide you'll need. If you can find one roughly the size of the shell, you'll need about 3-4 1 qt bottles. 11. Keep all soaking items in direct sunlight, this process will take a long time, much longer if your console is more yellowed then mine. 12. Take out all the electronics from the bottom of your SFC, and check for dust, clean the board if needed (DO NOT USE WATER ON THE BOARD!) 13. Clean the bottom shell with soap+water. and soak in peroxide if needed (mine did not need this) 14. Check on the peroxide every few hours, and when you get a color you like, bring everything in, and let it dry. 15. Re-assemble, and you're good to go! Materials used: 5 bottles of Hydrogen peroxide. SNES/SFC security screwdriver Phillips screwdriver (smaller sized tip) Copper cleaning pad Liquid dish soap water cloth time.
