| Video Discription | It's important to warm up your hands in some way when you practice. This is a nice warm-up exercise. I can't remember where I learned it, but supposedly it comes from Ustad Alla Rakha-ji. Happy for anyone to verify or correct that attribution. Once you have the pattern set up and you're playing in teentaal with awareness of khali, you can go ahead and start moving the bols around in the first half and then repeating with khali in the second half, per usual. As always, play at a slow enough tempo that you can clearly articulate every bol without tensing up. Relax and let your hands warm up for 5, 10, 15 minutes at that tempo and then increase it a bit. Don't try and push yourself to maximum speed, just let the hands do their thing and focus on crispness, clarity, and accuracy of timing.
