The most charitable explanation you can give here is that to "update" the older English pronouns, they misunderstood "O praise ye," which is an imperative statement (as in "praise ye the Lord") and changed it to "Oh, we praise you," which is a declarative statement. In order for that to be identical in meaning, the original would have to be "O praise THEE." And that is why other contemporary versions of this hymn say "Oh, praise HIM," to specify that the creation must contribute to worship of God, YHWH their Creator. Especially when you start a new stanza that begins "Dear Mother Earth," that makes the "you" in "we praise you" impossible to interpret as anything else but "Mother Earth." Even if it's unintentional, this little change does make the meaning of the hymn pagan. Oh, and the "she/her" pronouns for God later on are super pagan.
