So let’s get straight into it! We begin the trailer with a few scenes which were previously shown in the teaser, released a few months earlier. We see the squad run from some massive crab monsters with wrecker carrying a crate. Probably the mission objective. And judging by how much they are willing to show us, you can bet that what we see here is probably the opening to the first episode of the show. We also then get to see Omega in combat, and its pretty clear that she is far more proficient than what we have seen before. Its pretty clear that in the time between the first season and this one, the crew must have been training her to fend for herself. We then get to see the squad hide from some LAATs flying over head. These were of course used as troop carriers by the clones, so these transports could very well be carrying clones or stormtroopers who are hunting for the bad batch. And if you pay close attention to their surroundings, you’ll notice that there is a lot of rust and broken structures in the background. Perhaps suggesting to us that wherever they are hiding is probably a scrap yard of some sort. We are then introduced to a completely new character by the name of Phee Genoa. And she specifically describes the Bad Batch as the top team, indicating that the Bad Batch have been on a few successful missions between season one and now. And their numerous successes have garnered quite a bit of fame. Its not clear who this Phee Genoa character is, but its safe to say she is probably just there to hire them for a job. And it remains unclear as to how important she is, given that the Bad Batch season 1 often did one story per episode. So she could very well only be relevant to that one specific episode. In the next shot we get to see some stormtroopers, specifically phase 1 stormtroopers. You can sort of see the resemblance to the stormtroopers later on, and the helmets that they use eventually end up being the same type of helmets used by the cadets of the imperial military. In the middle of all of them, we get to see none other than Vice Admiral Rampart. The primary antagonist to the bad batch. And seeing him surrounded by all the stormtroopers pretty much suggests that he doesn’t trust clones at all. Echo tells Hunter that they should be doing more, which may actually hint to the bad batch’s growing involvement with a possible clone rebellion, something which is referenced later in the trailer. We get a beautiful shot and something which feels like it is straight out of Horizon Zero Dawn. A sort of robot dinosaur that is emerging from an explosion. No clue as to what this is but man does it look really cool and possibly evil. We see the bad batch break into a control room, and at first I thought this might be the bridge of a ship which it still could be. But if you pay close attention to the background you can actually just see the tips of skyscrapers. And on the right hand side, what looks to be the iconic dome of the senate building. Letting us know that whatever the bad batch is trying to do, is taking place on coruscant. Cid tells them that if they pull off this heist, the squad will have a future. Which means that whatever mission the crew is on, is probably going to bring in a lot of credit. We then get to hear Commander Cody for the first time in this era of star wars. And if you pay close attention to Cody’s armor, you will notice that his armor is not the iconic orange that the commander had during the clone wars. Instead, it's this dull gray color. So it seems like Commander Cody and probably the rest of his men have been stripped for their original orange. Likely as part of the Empire’s decision to strip back the clone’s identity and possibly a long-term effect of the inhibitor chip. Which we know tends to remove the clone’s individuality. Behind Cody we get to see a whole bunch of aurebesh and unfortunately most of it is out of focus, so its pretty hard to decipher what it means. And from the few that I was able to translate, it didn’t really make much sense. It just seems like a whole bunch of letters all jumbled together. But my best guess is that this is probably a mural for the dead. A way to honor the fallen clones... |
