| Video Discription | Professor Harry Messel ran the School of Physics for 35 years until his retirement in 1987 — but even then, he continued to influence the activities of the School and the Physics Foundation (which he created in 1954) right until his passing in July 2015. Harry's legacy is best summed up in his oft-heard entreaty to always pursue and honour excellence, and nowhere was this better seen than in the International Science School program, which he started more than 50 years ago. The 2015 ISS program was in full swing this year when we heard the news that Harry had passed away. The next day we had the opportunity to formally open the Messel Lecture Theatre in the University of Sydney's new Sydney Nanoscience Hub building. Friends, family and supporters gathered for the occasion, along with the 133 students attending the 38th ISS.
