| Video Discription | The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Report revealed that we would exceed the safe limit of the average increase in the earth’s temperature of 1.5 degrees Celsius earlier than predicted. In 2019, emissions from the transport sector in Indonesia reached 157 million tons of CO2. “Bus Rapid Transit system development in Metropolitan Areas is expected to support the achievement of national development targets and be a solution to various economic, social, and environmental issues.” says Suharto, Director of Road Transportation, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia. Currently, the Ministry of Transportation is in the process of implementing BRT in 5 Metropolitan areas in Indonesia. In the implementation of these activities, we receive support from development partners, one of which is the GIZ SUTRI NAMA & INDOBUS Programme which has a common goal to contribute to climate change mitigation efforts through transport policies and sustainable transport infrastructure projects both at the national and regional levels. This video highlights Indonesia’s climate actions and efforts in the transport sector during the Transport and Climate Change Week 2022.
